Weekend Update

We went up to San Francisco to celebrate Hank's birthday. It was the first time Jessica had been there. She loved it. We drove down the crookedest street in America, then we went shopping downtown. We ate dinner at Hard Rock Cafe (Hank's favorite restaurant). About halfway through dinner Jessica realized she was hungry and she started screaming. Luckily, since the music in that place is so darn loud no one around us could even tell she was upset!

Alpha Company had a fitness competition the other night and the families of the soldiers were invited to attend. We had a bake sale to raise money for the company Christmas party. I brought a pumpkin cake roll and it was auctioned off for $30. Woohoo! The picture above is of the event Hank competed in. The blur is Hank. He had to wear a 50 lb rucksack and run a lap around the track. I think I clocked him at about 100 mph at this point.

Happy Thanksgiving! We stayed in Monterey for Thanksgiving this year. Hank's company selected us to recieve a frozen turkey from the Order of the Purple Heart organization. What we didn't know is that it was not only a turkey, but an entire meal. We got all the ingredients to make mashed potatoes, stuffing, vegitables, salad, jello, candied yams, dessert, etc. They even included Martinelli's and hot chocolate. It was a feast. We invited a few single soldiers over to help us eat it all, but only one could come. I was going to cook the turkey, but once I saw how disgusting a raw turkey looks I made Hank do it. He did a fantastic job!

So, my dad insisted that since we had a rare 4 day weekend we had to go out and see some of the sights in our area. We had grand plans of visiting all the old missions within 4 hours, but we only ended up seeing two of them. Above is San Juan Bautista, and below is Carmel. Jessica loved it. :)

When we when shopping in SF the baby was the only one to buy anything. Doesn't she look cute in her new dress?

Sounds like a busy, fun week. I agree about raw turkey-yuck! Jessica is so sweet. I miss that little bitty stage sometimes. The blur picture is cool.
