Our Very Busy Day

Image
In an effort to procrastinate our packing till the very last minute, we have been keeping ourselves busy with other fun activities. Here are just a few of the fun things we did yesterday: Mothering Skills Class: The Art of Breadmaking. My good friend Starlyn taught a class on making homemade bread. This has been an obsession of mine lately, so I had a really good time. While we were at the class Jessica was getting very upset with me because I wouldn't let her eat the bread. So when we came home I decided to let her try her first solid food. Banana baby food. She LOVED it! As soon as the spoon hit her mouth for the first time she was in heaven. She kicked her legs and laughed out loud! Let the messy days begin! Then we went on a Whale Watching Tour. We have lived in Monterey for a year and half and hadn't done this yet, so we had to squeeze it in before we left. Jessica was bundled up nice and warm. Combined with the added padding of the lifejacket and the rocking of

Family Home Evening

This Monday night we went out on the town. The town of Pacific Grove, that is. Pacific Grove is right next to Monterey and it's known as America's last hometown. It has a cute little main street lined with little shops. A hardware store, a market, a post office, antique shops, ice cream parlors, a library, etc. Plus it's right on the beach. We live on the border of Monterey and PG. It's a really nice, quiet town to live in. We stopped by the Farmer's Market and I bought a bag of almonds to use in homemade granola. Then we waled around downtown for a little while before going to the movies. This is the little Lighthouse Cinemas theater. We saw Race to Witch Mountain. It was pretty good. Bonus: Monday night is free popcorn night! We had the whole theater to ourselves so when Jessica woke up we just walked around the theater with her till she fell asleep again. She loves going to the movies. All bundled up to go into the chilly night!

St Patrick's Day Brunch

I threw a little St Patty's Day Brunch this morning for a few girls from my ward. It was so fun! I had such a great time planning for it. Hank couldn't understand why I would put so much energy into a little brunch, but I told him that entertaining is my "hobby." It went really well, and Jessica was an angel for me so I could actually enjoy it. The "tablescape." Sandra Lee would be proud. I used these cute little vases of flowers as placecards/favors. After scouring the internet and magazines for ideas, I really couldn't find anything that suited my taste. I wanted to do something kind of formal, but all I could find was beer cozies made out of felt. So, I pretty much had to come up with my own ideas. I spent hours making the invitations (much to Hank's dismay), but they turned out so cute! I wish I would have taken a picture of one. For the food I decided on some Irish things and some green things. I used honeydew melon, green grapes, an

This weekend was full of Cookie Lee. I had a huge blowout sale and invited everyone in my ward. I wanted to get rid of a lot of my inventory before we move (March 31, by the way) so I sold everything up to 50% off. Then we went to the La Mesa bargain fair and I sold jewelry there, too. It was really fun. It was a beautiful day and I even got a lovely farmer's tan. I made over $800 just this weekend. Woo hoo! Like mother, like daughter. Meet the youngest Cookie Lee consultant ever. She'll be driving a mercedes benz in no time!
