My Trophy

Image
Be prepared for a long, boring post. So, this has been an interesting week...I've been laying in bed for the past three weeks, but last Sunday night I started to feel contractions. Let me start out by saying I feel contractions ALL the time. I'm talking the braxton-hicks practice contractions. With each of my pregnancies I felt them earlier, this time starting at 13 weeks. And I usually have several a day. Well, the thing that made them noticeable on Sunday was that they were getting really close together. My doctor had told me to call if I ever had four in one hour, even if they weren't painful. Well, at about 9pm I started noticing that they were about 20 minutes apart. So I told Hank to stand by and I called a nurse friend of mine. I told her that my back kind of hurt, I felt a "pressure" in my stomach, and that by then the contractions were 12 minutes apart. She said YES, call your doctor and go to the hospital. Well, the doctor said the same thing ...

The Joys of Bedrest

So, as you may or may not have heard, this pregnancy's not going as smoothly as we had hoped. Don't worry, I feel fine, and the baby's doing great; it's just a matter of keeping him in there. Apparently I have "cervical insufficiency" (which is probably why Jessica was born 4 weeks early). It basically means that I am dilating way sooner than I'm supposed to. And for those of you who've heard of this condition, no, I can't get a cerclage because I'm too far along (I'm now 27 weeks). Anyway, I've been prescribed bedrest to help me keep as much weight off my cervix as possible. Earlier this week I had a doctor appointment in Tucson and we stopped at a park to let out some energy beforehand. It was a beautiful day and Jessica loved swinging with Daddy! So, now that I've been stuck lying in bed all day, I've had to get creative with my forms of entertainment. Hank set up a pretty sweet entertainment center for me in the bedr...

Guess What!

So, I guess it's about time to announce... we're having a baby! Hank is finally getting his boy! I am 22 weeks along (5 months), and we are due May 21st. So far, the pregnancy has gone just swimmingly. I had a little internal bleeding in the beginning, which put me on bedrest for a couple days, but everything is better now and looking great. Our little boy is growing right on track and kicking me constantly! I'm feeling all sorts of aches and pains and total exhaustion and I couldn't be happier. It's wonderful to actually feel pregnant. Oh, and by the way, my stomach is HUGE. Which Hank insists he thinks is hot. Whatever. Do we have a name picked out yet? Not even close. Between Hank and I not being able to agree on anything, and me being the most indecisive person in the world, I don't think we're going to decide on a name anytime soon. Jessica is slowly starting to understand what's going on and she is excited. She tries to talk to him...

Zoo!

We went to the Tucson Zoo yesterday for Hank's day off. We've had an annual pass, and it's been so fun to watch Jessica each time we go. The first time we went was on her first birthday and she didn't have very much interest in all of it, but each time we go she knows and notices more. She said the giraffes were her favorite this time. We take a picture by this elephant each time we come. She's grown so much!
